Sports Medicine & Pediatrics

Comprehensive Family Foot Care, PA offers custom orthotics and sports medicine treatment for foot and ankle-related ailments.

Athlete’s Foot

Besides treating the patient, we treat the shoes using the SteriShoe® sanitizer, which uses germicidal UV light to decontaminate the shoe. It kills organisms that might live in the shoe and potentially recontaminate the patient. We sell Dr.’s Remedy™ nail polish created by podiatrists. It contains no formaldehyde, and is a medical nail polish made with tea tree oil that helps prevent the growth of fungus in the nails.

Foot & Ankle Injuries

The feet and ankles work together to provide support and mobility to the body. A foot or ankle sprain is a soft tissue injury. Most often, a sprain occurs when an injury pulls, stretches, or tears the ligaments that connect bone to bone. A fracture is actually a break in the bone.

From ancient Egyptian times down through the centuries, footwear has been designed to meet mankind’s real and perceived needs—protection, support, comfort, sturdiness, and stylishness.  Feet endure tremendous pressures of daily living. An average day of walking brings a force equal to several hundred tons on them. They are subject to more injury than any other part of the body, underscoring the need to protect them with proper footwear.

Custom Orthotics

Custom orthotics are specially made devices designed to support and provide comfort your feet. Prescription orthotics are crafted for you and no one else. They match the contours of your feet precisely and are designed for the way you move. Podiatrists use orthotics to treat foot problems such as: plantar fasciitis; bursitis; tendinitis; bunions; hammertoes; diabetic foot ulcers; and foot, ankle, and heel pain.

Whether it is a precious baby’s first steps or a quick-maneuvering teenager’s winning soccer goal, healthy feet and sure-footedness make milestones in child’s life possible. Starting at birth, paying close attention to your little one’s feet from proper grooming to gait will ensure a solid foundation as your youngster grows. After all, their feet are meant to last a lifetime!
